EDUCATION

In the last 50 years, Singapore’s industry has gone through various transformations – from being labour-intensive to skills-intensive, then from capital-intensive to knowledge-intensive. Technology is also advancing at a pace of change that is unprecedented. To stay on top of industry’s ever-changing landscape or to pioneer new fields and industries, it is necessary to learn, unlearn and relearn, to embrace change and continue learning beyond the traditional classroom. Hence, being adaptable to change and lifelong learning is essential. CDTI offers a range of long-term and short-term certified training programmes.

Lean and Industry 4.0 are two philosophies with similar target to achieve operational excellence. They complement each other to support the growing demand for high mix low volume and mass customisation requirement for manufacturing. As digitalisation is raising new kinds of waste (especially in the area of data), new forms of analysing value streams are gaining in importance.

This course provides the understanding of the connection of Lean Management and Industry 4.0 – how Industry 4.0 can support the Lean approach with regards to the challenges of small lot sizes and the requirement of product customisation. Participants will understand the connection between Lean Management & Industry 4.0 and know how Industry 4.0 can support the Lean approach with regards to the challenges of small lot sizes and customer individual products.
