In the last 50 years, Singapore’s industry has gone through various transformations – from being labour-intensive to skills-intensive, then from capital-intensive to knowledge-intensive. Technology is also advancing at a pace of change that is unprecedented. To stay on top of industry’s ever-changing landscape or to pioneer new fields and industries, it is necessary to learn, unlearn and relearn, to embrace change and continue learning beyond the traditional classroom. Hence, being adaptable to change and lifelong learning is essential. CDTI offers a range of long-term and short-term certified training programmes.

This course provides the understanding of the applications of smart sensors in the context of Industry 4.0. A step-by-step approach will first enable the participants to understand the basics of smart sensors and through project-oriented exercise to integrate them in the automation processes. Hands-on practice includes parametrization, sensor replacement in the field and upload settings and setting up the IO-Link communication.

To provide the participant with the knowledge of the characteristics of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and be able to set-up and operate it and participants will also do some basic PLC programming using ladder diagrams.

To provide the participant with knowledge of construction and operation of a PLC and be able to translate control tasks into operational PLC programs. The participant would be able to write and simulate the control system based on IEC 61131-3 standard.
